David Garceran Nieuwenburg Wins Caissa Spring Rapid 2021

Played over two Sundays, 13 and 20 June, 36 players arrived at Caissa Sheung Wan Centre to play for the Caissa Spring Rapid 2021 title. The event was not FIDE rated, once in a while an asset for our youngest talents who would not be too cramped and afraid to lose rating points can try out more adventurous play.

Until the last round the top 7 ranking could have gone anyway. It was thanks to a narrow win of David over Alexander and a draw between Chui Wo Chung and AFM Aravind Mahadevan that the top 3 players, into which Tang Tsz Sang had wrestled himself into 2nd position, would emerge.

Final Standings

Trophies also went to Best U16 Li Shing Hei, Best U12 Julian Wang and Best U8 upcoming star Anaisha Hari.
