June July August - Camps Camps Camps
It was an exciting summer with 8 weeks of camps: morning, afternoon, at our Discovery Bay Center, Sheung Wan Center and even a private camp in Shatin. From complete beginners to experienced tournaments players, some 125 students spent 5 days per week, for mostly 3 hours per day, solving puzzles, playing chess, bullying the coaches and other fun at class and during the highly appreciated snack breaks.
Without exception, all camps blended fun with serious learning and all students made solid progress and left the camp better than they were in chess than before they joined. Each group was unique, different characters and personalities, different group dynamics - but all groups shared the common ground of students' willingness and pleasure in putting their brains to work and improve in chess.
It was a pleasure from our side, coaches, to bond with the students and to observe bonding between students as they slogged from task to task and teamed up with one another in some forms of chess that requires cooperation between players.
Hope to see many of you back in some chess setting!
