MAGiC - Monthly Age Group in Caissa U7 and U9 Results
Our first leg of the September - December series of Age Group Rapid events was played on September 8. We introduced the Age Group chess in addition to the EOM (End of Month) event for several reasons which have been given and can be found on the MAGiC registration page.
As MAGiC is open, compared to EOM which is only for Caissa students, we had a strong mix of players. In the U7 nobody scored hundred percent, which shows at the top it was quite close. Best girl with 3 points on 6th place was Pansy who will join the squad team at the Caissa ECA at Malvern. Good luck! The 4th Prize with 3.5 points went to Lucas, who trains with Caissa and elsewhere, and who was the only one to steal half a point from the number one today. Philip and Shayne from Caissa ended 2nd and 3rd respectively on tie-break. Winner was Anderson with 4.5 points. Well done Anderson!
Players who didn't get a prize today: don't worry. Keep on practicing with us at Caissa or where you are training now elsewhere. The prizes are not a goal: good play is and prizes will follow from that!
All results are here.
Prize Winners U7 (left to right): Shayne, Pansy, Anderson, Philip and Lucas with with Coach CM Emile in the back.
In the U9 Group we didn't have a girl, unfortunately. We hope next time to have a few girls joining.
Also in this group nobody scored hundred percent. Although we are obviously proud that all the 5 prizes in U9 went to Caissa students we hope to welcome more non-Caissa students in next legs.
With 3 points Jake scored 5th Place and Luke, who kept first Place from a hundred percent score, ended 4th with 3.5 points. The Top 3 was a Caissa CTP students party with Clement getting 3rd Place (3.5 points), Ernest 2nd place (4 points) and William, who is in tip top shape recently, 1st Place. Good job all.
Prize Winners (left to right): Jake, Luke, William, Ernest and Clement.
All results U9 are here.
It need be said that for some newer Caissa players, who had not played any tournament yet, also not EOM, the U7 and U9 was definitely a heavy tournament. Keep calm! Join the EOMs and get ready for the next leg in October.
Keep practicing...
